Aluminum Free Natural Deodorant Roundup 2 Review: Pacifica, Boscia Charcoal, Le Couvent des Minimes Alum Stone Deodorant & More

Natural Deodorant Reviews and Pictures: Pacific Underarm Deodorant Wipes, Boscia Charcoal Deodorant, Green Tidings Organic Deodorant and EO Organic Deodorant Spray

I’m about 3 or so years into consistent aluminum free deodorant usage, and it was a hard transition at first. It’s still difficult – I feel overtime I because immune to the powers of ones I like.

My magnesium oil based deodorant review was so popular – I need to step it up and show case all of the 20+ natural deodorants I’ve tried in the past 12 months alone!

Here are my honest reviews of several natural deodorants – stay tuned for more in the weeks that follow!

Le Couvent des Minimes Alum Stone Natural Deodorant Review

Le Couvent des Minimes was one of the first natural deodorants I tried. I was very intrigued by the alum stone component – could this be fairly antiperspirant like without having the full effects (good and bad) of aluminum? This product is made without aluminum, parabens or alcohol. I don’t think I have an issue with alcohol but can understand that how it could be irritating.

It does of essential oils, however. I’m always so considered with the potential for strong or lingering smells from essential oils, I often forget that brands add them for actual benefit beauty or potential health benefits – not just a natural scent solution. Fresh citrusy lemon, orange and mandarin are tempered by rosemary oil. The rosemary oil is more functional, however I would prefer this natural deodorant without it.

It’s very important to shake Le Couvent des Minimes well! It is a thin gel like liquid consistency. Give it about 2 minutes to try before putting on shirts. One problem I had was that often I feel I would get rolls or swipes of the natural deodorant that had the right mixture of everything and others felt like they were missing some of the crucial ingredients, like I had just put glycerin on.

Another huge problem – it’s not just the essential oils that give it a scent: it also contains added fragrance/parfum. And this fragrance unfortunately easily turns sour – while you are wearing it. It does stay fresh for about…maybe an hour on a good day? Assuming you have shaken it enough to mix the ingredients.

I will buy into the potential of alum stone to be potentially antiperspirant, but the brief freshness doesn’t last long and the scents turn sour. I would not recommend this.

Pacific Underarm Deodorant Wipes with Coconut Milk & Essential Oils Review

When I first tried these underarm deodorant wipes, I loved them so much I went back to target to get more (and luckily they were on sale so that worked out). The scent was delightful – like a marshmallow dream, supposedly just from coconut milk and essential oils (parfum from natural essential oils). I loved the wipe concept – easy for me to make sure I applied well to my arm pits.

The good news: these natural deodorant wipes are vegan and cruelty free without aluminum, sulfates, phthalates, parabens, SLS and petroleum based ingredients. They are also biodegradable!

These are great to keep in your gym bag or in your car to quickly freshen up. These are fine to use throughout the day, but they won’t keep you fresh all day long – or at least they didn’t keep me continually fresh. Maybe if you don’t move at all or don’t encounter any stressful situations throughout the day.

Green Tidings All Natural Organic Deodorant Review

This all natural non-toxic deodorant is easily available on Amazon and often seen on Instagram: so glad many people actually find this useful. I’ve tried the unscented version but you can also by this aluminum free deodorant in lavender.

It’s very natural – as the stick container reminders you constantly: non-toxic, organic, gluten free, aluminum free, paraben free, SLS free, BPA free container, soy-free, corn free, no propylene glycol, not tested on animals, fragrance free. Oh and it’s also made in the USA.

It smells like beeswax and feels waxy – throughout the day it gets sticky, which isn’t a great feeling for me. So what’s in it? Surprisingly not beeswax but LOTS of shea butter and candelila wax; coconut oil, magnesium oil and tapioca starch and baking soda. I personally prefer a higher baking soda ratio in my deodorants.

I wouldn’t recommend this, but I may be in the minority. I don’t think this works – maybe because magnesium based deodorants and me just don’t mix well.

Boscia Charcoal Natural Talc-Free Deodorant Powder Review

I’ve used a lot of Boscia products over the year – most of the charcoal based line – so I was thrilled to try this when it first came out. It is a very fine powder in a spray pump. When you use it under your arms it just feels like air is being sprayed – the first times I would test on my hand to make sure product was pumping out.

I love that it is talc-free (more on why I’m trying to go talc-free here). It’s also paraben free, aluminum free and phthalate free. It seems to be essentially just finely milled charcoal. It is however very scented – even more so than the Pacific natural deodorant wipes. This “botanical blend” includes lavender but smells very flowery. It’s too overwhelming for me, but at least it does takeway from the charcoal scent that normally permeates from Boscia skin care.

I know charcoal is supposed to be highly absorbing, but this charcoal deodorant doesn’t work well for me at all. It maybe lasts an hour? It’s not worth $20 to me. I’ll continue to keep it in my gym bag in my car, but I definitely won’t re-buy it.

EO Organic Deodorant Spray Review – Vetiver

I love EO products – I use their hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes, body wash and hand wash all the time. I had been meaning to try a spray deodorant and found a few at Whole Foods one day including Weleda deodorant, but this EO organic deodorant spray seemed fresher.

This organic aluminum free deodorant spray is essentially just organic alcohol and organic essential oils. The vetiver oil is complimented by bergamot oil and just the right amount of organic lavender. Surprisingly, I like it better than most of the natural deodorants in this roundup (even though essential oils are normally too strong for me). I’m still deciding on its effectiveness – I keep it in my work bag but I need to use it more before I can recommend it for sure. The price point is pretty good at only $5 or so. When I run out I will try the citrus version next if it’s not too sweet smelling.

This USDA certified organic deodorant is also gluten free, propylene glycol free and cruelty free.
