Glow Recipe Mask Reviews – Are they Worth It?

Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask and Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask review.

Updated spring 2020: So normally at Sephora I stick to the truly ‘clean at Sephora’ brands but every now and then I’ll bend my rules (especially right after payday 🙂 ) to expand my horizons. A travel size of Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask brought me over to the darker side (read: scentier side) a few months ago. I also eat my weight in avocado and watermelon daily so it’s only natural I should want to try these skincare products.

Love the girl gang behind Glow Recipe and that they’ve found a niche between K beauty / natural beauty / lux beauty.

And speaking of Glow: currently binging season 2 of this awesome Netflix series

I’ll make this review quick because my baby’s nap time is quickly expiring:

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask Review

What I love about this Kbeauty mask:

  • hyaluronic acid
  • stay-put transfer-proof formulation
  • Alpha-hydroxy-acids
  • very easy on sensitive skin
  • soft feeling skin in the morning

What I don’t love about this Watermelon mask:

  • Added fragrance. Why. Why why why why why why why is this necessary??

Would I buy this again?

  • No. But I’ll put this in Stitch-fix box rating terms: I had a lot of fun testing this product. I may try their products again. But ultimately this wasn’t the right fit for me. I think a more effective mask is Maholo the Petal Mask (this is a BHA mask vs Glow Recipe AHA). Before you freak out at the price tag though, you can just get a sample from The Detox Market!

If you’re looking for some truly glowy skin, I recommend reading about the best masks on my glowing skincare guide for any budget!

Glow Recipe vs Drunk Elephant?

I’ve gotten a few of these questions lately and it’s a great one! This probably deserves its own post, but in general I’ve found Drunk Elephant serums and masks to be much more potent than Glow Recipe formulas. So much so that the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial mask is one of my top recommendations to reveal your glow and improve your dark spots and pigmentation or melasma.

Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask Review

What I love about this Kbeauty mask:

  • avocado (supposedly for natural collagen support? sweet) and honey
  • polyhodroxy acid: I can feel this mask tingling
  • any amazing melty smothering texture with mostly thoughtful ingredients

Love this blurb from Sephora, really stepping up ingredient callouts:

Ingredient Callouts: Free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban, and contains less than one percent of synthetic fragrances. This product is also cruelty-free.

  • soft feeling skin in the morning

What I don’t love about this Avocado mask:

  • Ditto from the watermelon mask. Added fragrance. Why. Why why why why why why why is this necessary??

Would I buy this again?

  • I’m not sure. This is one of the first times I’ve bought intentionally for its firming benefits. I think I need more time to tell if its working. I am enjoying it thought but I think I need to make my way through this entire avocado-honey pot for conclusive results.
