Youth to the People Kale + Green Tea + Spinach Cleanser and Moisture Cream Review

Youth to the People Natural Skin Care Kale, Green Tea, Spinach and Vitamins Anti-Aging Cleanser and Hyaluronic Acid Face Cream Review and Pictures

I’ve been browsing and sampling Youth to the People Kale + Green Tea and spinach cleanser at my local Nordstrom for a few months now. I’m so thrilled Sephora started carrying it (so I can accumulate more VIB Rouge points). A few weeks ago they released a mini of the Youth to the People Kale + Green Tea, Spinach and Vitamins age prevention cleanser and the hyaluronic acid moisture cream.

This family-inspired California based beauty brand markets themselves as natural, superfood powered anti-aging beauty creators with paraben free, phthalate free, sulfate free, fragrance free and vegan ingredients. These products are made in the USA, aren’t tested on animals and arrive in 100% recycled packaging.

Youth to the People Kale + Spinach + Green Tea Age Prevention Cleanser Review

I don’t really care about the anti-aging benefits right now (but I probably should!). I’m mostly just obsessed with the fresh, non-irritating formula that leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and not dry from the kale and aloe. It doesn’t have added fragrance but it does have a hint of a fresh green scent – probably from the flower extract. It’s a clear, smooth gel formula that doesn’t get to sudsy.

So…I’m very much in love with this fresh feeling paraben-free cleanser. And it would most certainly become a new standard on my vanity. Except….it has retinyl palmitate. I’m very torn at how big of a deal this is or how similar to true retinol it is. EWG  Skin Deep Database 9 rating for retinyl palmitate concerns me. But Paula’s Choice thinks concerns over retinyl palmitate are overly dramatic and they recommend it (but Paula’s Choice also sells retinol products).  It seems to be gentle enough for sensitive skin by some people’s standards. There are strong mixed opinions on it in general and the weight EWG is placing on certain studies.

Youth To The People Kale + Spinach + Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Cream Review

This age prevention moisturizing face cream is refreshing and hydrating. It’s doesn’t feel very thick or creamy – especially not compared to my Drunk Elephant Lala Retro whipped cream – but it leaves my skin feeling baby soft when I wake up in the morning. It’s not greasy or heavy and has a similar fresh scent to the cleanser. It’s light in texture and reminds me of Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. If you don’t have any issues with retinyl palmitate, I would recommend this Youth to the People age prevention cream over the Fresh lotus youth preserve cream.

Overall, I’m torn. I like this made in the USA brand. I generally love the fresh light and nourishing formulations, but I still can’t decide whether or not I’m going to use these or other products with retinyl palmitate on a regular basis. Remember I’m not a doctor and you should discuss any of your medical concerns with yours.

If you live or are near San Diego, consider buying Youth to the People products locally at En Concordia in Point Loma.
