Recent Sephora Haul: First Aid Beauty Color Correcting Cushion and Farsali Unicorn Essence Reviews

Picture and reviews of Farsali Unicorn Tears Essence and First Aid Beauty Superfruit Color Correcting Cushion. Both make decent make primers, but are they worth the price?

We’ve been a bit busy lately and I’m majorly losing track of time…how long ago did I buy these colorful beauties? A few weeks? Almost 2 months ago? Hard to keep track, but I’m finally getting around to my reviews.

Farsali Unicorn Essence Review – What’s Not to Love?

I frequently scan Sephora’s site for new products, and this serum had me roped in at just a few descriptions: “free radical damage”, “antioxidants”,”Vitamin C”, “skin tone” and last but not least “hyrdated”. Plus it is pink! How much fun is that!? (Right but added color probably isn’t that great for me so I’m trying to break my habit of being seduced by pretty, colorful and sparkly things).

This beautiful serum seems to be made mostly of fruit extracts an oils, mica for shimmery-ness, and yes some added colors. And no parabens or phthalates! It smells sweet like the fruits – surprisingly not too sweet smelling for me.

But overall, it didn’t wow me, and I like to be wowed when I’m spending $50+ on skin care. I think it could work well as a good serum/primer combo. I would suggest getting a sample if they have this in stock at a Sephora near you so you can try before you buy.

First Aid Beauty Hello FAB 3 in 1 Color Correcting Cushion Review

I love First Aid Beauty products and so I buy just about every product they create. But not all are created equal.  Because of my dark spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation, vitiligo and sometimes dull skin, I was very excited to see they created a color correcting cushion.

At first use, I was definitely a bit off-put by the chemical-ly scent – I still compare all of their products to their gold-standard fragrance free Ultra Repair Cream. I was very surprised by this formulation – the scent was almost as strong as an Amore Pacific CC cushion (which is very intense to me).

As for the results: I love the lavender / purple base of the product. It did help to brighten my skin. I did not find it hydrating at all though – conversely it felt very drying, like I would need even more layers of skin care before applying my makeup to feel comfortable and well hydrated.

Much like the Farsali Unicorn Essence, you can sense the super fruity-ness of this color correcting serum. I generally love First Aid Beauty because their products are paraben free, free of artificial fragrances and allergy tested, but this color corrector is by far not as great for sensitive skin like their other products. For those of you sensitive to silicone, there are quite a few of them listed in the ingredients (but I wouldn’t necessarily say I feel them upon application). I’m not sure which ingredient, but something in this color correction cushion stings my nostrils. Ultimately I wouldn’t recommend it for people like me with sensitive skin – I’m still on the lookout for a fragrance free, brightening color corrector. If you don’t have sensitive skin however, you might want to give it a go.
